The “National Youth Day” was successfully organized by MCC-IIC in collaboration with
MCC-EDC. The event kicked off at 9:00 a.m. To celebrate the talents of the youth, the
committee has conducted various interdepartmental events for students of MCC. It included
events like potpourri which took place in Martin Hall followed by E-poster and debate in CMS
theater. For the E-poster, a total of three posters were presented to the jury members, Mr.
Hanumanth Rao, EDC coordinator and Mrs. Meera Rajeev Kumar. They were impressed by the
innovative ideas pitched by the participants. After this, debate was held which a total of 3
participants took part. This was judged by Mr. Obed Jackson and Mrs. Rachel Jacob. After the
competitions got over, all the participants were seated in CMS theater to know the results. Along
with them, the innovation contest winners of various departments were assembled for the event.
In the meantime, refreshments were provided to the participants, volunteers, and faculty
members.
After the completion of the competitions, the event was kicked off by college prayer song. The
event was glittered by the presence of Dr. P.Wilson (Principal), Dr. D.Selvakumari (MCC-IIC
Convenor) and Dr. Aarthi (Head of Operations) with a special mention to our chief guest of the
event Mr. Vijay Anand, iTNT hub CEO. Dr. D. Selvakumari addressed the students and the
dignitories and gave a precise introduction about the event. Next, our principal Dr. P. Wilson
explained to the audience about MCC- MRF innovation park and its role in inculcating
entrepreneurship in the minds of MCCians. He quoted saying “Through this innovation park,
MCC wants to create more job entrepreneurs than job seekers”. Next Dr. Aarthi ma’am
introduced the chief guest to the audience. He had experience working in IIT-Madras incubation
center and various government agencies for promoting the idea of start-ups in growing youth
population. His speech was motivational and inspiring to the students. He also praised various
notable alumni produced by MCC and felt proud to occupy the podium that was once occupied
by great leaders of the nation like Dr. R Radhakrishnan. Then, there was a quick doubt session
wherein, students from the audience asked their doubts regarding the dominance of artificial
intelligence in the future, and the chief guest cleared their doubts by giving clarity on the current
market scenario in technology field.
Next, the newly selected IIC representatives of the academic year 2023 of college were given
their official postings and batches by the principal followed by oath taking ceremony and group
photo with principal and the faculty members in-charge. Later on, the winners of the competition
were declared and felicitated them with trophies and certificates. Most importantly, the winners
of the best innovation contest, which was shortlisted by the committee, were given the seed
money with trophies and certificates.
